Rob, now that I'm home I can tell you that the show with Etta James (& the Tower of Power) is 31st December 1982, 3rd set.

She played with the boys also on New Years Eve 1983 going into 1984. That night featured the Bobs opening, then the Band (w/o Robbie Robertson), and then Etta for the third set. Fun, fun night in the SF Civic (now Bill Graham auditorium). Played some great volleyball the prior nights on the floor pre-show...
